We are very proud to announce €1.4mn funding from the EU and State of Berlin for our groundbreaking carbon management software.

With “CarbonAgent4SCM”, we're developing an agentic data system for supply chain emissions: software that proposes actions, not just reports numbers. It will collect Scope 3 data across complex supply chains, check it for plausibility, and turn it into decisions, from the bill of materials to strategic procurement.

This is our second ProFIT project, a programme run by Investitionsbank Berlin (IBB) and co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The Berlin funding consultancy FörderProtech helped us secure the approval again, and we're grateful to AnaMaria and Sven for years of close work that got us here. Now the build begins.

Getting Scope 3 emissions out of Excel

For most companies, Scope 3 is the largest and hardest part of the footprint to measure under the GHG Protocol, and it still lives in scattered spreadsheets. The system will pull that data from many sources, plausibility-check it, and surface it where decisions happen: in purchasing, sustainability, and management. The goal is to move Scope 3 out of Excel and into daily operations.

How we're building our agentic AI for supply chain emissions

We're building it around a modular toolkit: an emissions database, a supply chain network that maps how parts and suppliers connect, and an agentic engine that reads the data flows along the chain and proposes concrete actions. Those actions drive supply chain decarbonisation: preferred suppliers, material alternatives, and lower-emission pathways. The system will connect to existing ERP, PLM, and SCM systems through standard interfaces. Instead of teams keying numbers into spreadsheets, it pulls that data in automatically. A mid-sized manufacturer will get reliable carbon data without replacing the stack it already runs.

CarbonAgent4SCM builds on our first ProFIT project. With that groundwork proven, we can now invest directly in agentic data infrastructure and bring carbon management into our customers' day-to-day operations. This time we go deeper into the chain, down to the bill of materials (BoM), the full list of parts and materials behind a product. Rules like CSRD and CBAM increasingly demand emissions figures that hold up to an audit, and consistent data at BoM level is what makes those figures defensible. From a single BoM line to a strategic sourcing decision, the system will give teams a basis to act.

Our founder and CEO, Dr. Micha Schildmann, comments:

"There s a global demand for highly automated carbon solutions that provide transparency into supply chain activities. With the technology we are building, we can meet that demand and drive sustainability worldwide, while generating data that is also relevant for other supply chain analysis. We are very thankful to IBB, the State of Berlin, and the EU for funding our work."

Our funding partner sees the same need from across the market. Sven Riedel, Managing Director of FörderProtech GmbH, says:

"forward earth shows how modern AI methods, knowledge graphs, and agentic systems can pull Scope 3 emissions out of the Excel world. CarbonAgent4SCM addresses exactly where many companies currently fail: consistent, auditable emissions data across complex supply chains. Since 2023 we've helped forward earth get three R&D projects off the ground, with a combined project volume of just under €5.5 million. That is a strong signal for climate tech made in Berlin."

We want to reach a new level of transparency in supply chains, and CarbonAgent4SCM is the next step toward carbon data companies can actually act on.
